Jakarta, September 11, 2026 — The Islamic World Development Network (IWDN) held an audience with Prof. Dr. Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim, M.A., Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) for Foreign Relations and International Cooperation, at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. HAMKA (UHAMKA), Ciracas, East Jakarta.
Representing IWDN, Fakih Fadilah M., President of IWDN, together with other IWDN representatives, discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation between IWDN and MUI, particularly in the areas of foreign relations and international cooperation. The discussion focused on exploring potential areas of collaboration that can contribute to strengthening Indonesia’s role and networks within the broader Muslim world.
One of the key topics discussed was the potential role of IWDN as a partner in following up on the outcomes of the Indonesian Muslim Congress. The congress produced various ideas and aspirations concerning the development of the Muslim community, which can be further translated into concrete and sustainable programs through collaboration among relevant institutions and stakeholders.
The meeting also highlighted the potential involvement of Muhammadiyah universities as partners in implementing future initiatives. With their academic resources, networks, and community engagement, Muhammadiyah universities can support the development of programs that connect ideas, research, education, and practical initiatives.
For IWDN, the collaboration with MUI represents an opportunity to strengthen its role as a network that connects institutions and communities working on issues related to the Muslim world. Through stronger cooperation, IWDN aims to contribute to initiatives that are collaborative, sustainable, and relevant to the needs of Muslim communities both in Indonesia and internationally.
The audience marked an important initial step toward broader cooperation between IWDN, MUI, and Muhammadiyah universities. Moving forward, the collaboration is expected to develop into concrete programs and follow-up initiatives that turn shared ideas and networks into meaningful contributions.
