October 7, 2026, Jakarta — The Islamic World Development Network (IWDN), in collaboration with Universitas Muhammadiyah Sukabumi (UMMI), is strengthening coordination ahead of the UMMI International Community Service Program (PKM) in Malaysia, scheduled to take place from October 15–18, 2026. The preparation is aimed at ensuring that the team, program agenda, and technical arrangements are well prepared so that the activities can run smoothly and achieve their intended objectives. The online coordination meeting provided an opportunity for IWDN and UMMI to align their preparations ahead of the team’s departure. Discussions covered the program agenda and activities, technical preparations, division of responsibilities, communication arrangements, as well as coordination with partners and community service locations in Malaysia. Eleven UMMI lecturers will participate in the program, including Fenty Sukmawaty, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at UMMI.
Strengthening Preparation and Aligning the Team
Coordination ahead of the departure is an important part of ensuring that everyone involved is well prepared and understands their respective roles. The preparation goes beyond the activity agenda, also focusing on how the programs can be implemented effectively while responding to the conditions and needs of communities and partners in Malaysia. Through the coordination process, various implementation needs are being prepared from the outset, including communication and coordination arrangements throughout the program. This preparation is expected to help the team anticipate potential challenges on the ground and ensure that each activity remains aligned with the agreed plan. IWDN President Fakih Fadilah Muttaqim reaffirmed IWDN’s commitment to supporting and overseeing the program from the preparation stage through the completion of all activities, “IWDN is committed to supporting and overseeing this program through to its completion. We hope that the coordination and preparation carried out from the outset will ensure that all activities run smoothly and bring meaningful benefits to communities in Malaysia,” he said.
Bringing UMMI’s Community Service to Malaysia
The UMMI International Community Service Program in Malaysia is part of the university’s efforts to expand the contribution of higher education through community service in an international setting. With lecturers from diverse academic backgrounds involved in the program, the activities are expected to respond to community needs while creating opportunities to share knowledge and experiences with partners in Malaysia. For UMMI, the program provides an opportunity to broaden lecturers’ experience in international community engagement. For IWDN, the collaboration reflects its commitment to strengthening connections between Indonesian higher education institutions, communities, and partners in Malaysia through academic and community service initiatives. More than simply preparing for departure, the coordination marks an important first step in ensuring that the community service brought from Indonesia can respond meaningfully to the needs of communities in Malaysia. With careful preparation and continued communication, IWDN and UMMI hope the October 15–18 program will run smoothly, deliver meaningful benefits, and open opportunities for broader collaboration in the future.
